Life

Prince Korkut, son of Bayezid II, was born in 1467 or 1469 in Amasya. After the death of Mehmed the Conqueror he briefly acted as regent on the throne until his father arrived, and later held various sanjaks. He was a prince devoted to scholarship, poetry and calligraphy who protected artists; according to the sources he played many instruments and invented a new one.
