By using Miras-ı Saz (mirasisaz.com), you are deemed to have accepted the following terms.

Service

Miras-ı Saz is a free educational platform that helps you learn makam music by playing and listening in your browser. The site is provided as is; it is not guaranteed to work without interruption or errors. The content and features of the service may be changed without prior notice.

Educational content

The information on makams, usuls and pitches is based on the Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek system. Although the content is prepared with care, expert review is still ongoing; for definitive information, we recommend consulting a teacher. You can send error reports to info@mirasisaz.com.

Intellectual property

The design, software, texts and logo of the site belong to Miras-ı Saz; they may not be copied without permission or used for commercial purposes. The kanun sound recordings are based on recordings shared by Barış Bozkurt on Freesound under the CC0 (public domain) license.

Automated access and use of data

Search engines and AI services may crawl and index our pages and quote Miras-ı Saz with attribution, provided they follow the site's robots.txt rules.

The site's texts and data files (glossary, makam, usul, composer biography, story and translation data) form a database compiled with considerable effort and are protected by the database maker's rights under Turkish Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works. Without our written permission, the following are not allowed:

  • downloading this content or the data files in bulk by automated means such as scripts, scrapers or AI tools,
  • republishing it on another website, in an app or in a dataset, selling it, or building a new database from it.

Automated access that sends many requests in a short time may be blocked. The scores in the music archive are prepared from SymbTr and may be shared under their own licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0): for non-commercial purposes, with attribution and under the same licence. Rules of use

  • You agree not to use the site for unlawful purposes or in a way that prevents others from using it,
  • not to overload the site with automated tools or attempt to circumvent its security,
  • and not to send misleading or harmful content through the contact form or the newsletter.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Miras-ı Saz cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damages that may arise from the use of, or the inability to use, the site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey.
