Sources and licenses
Every piece of information on Miras-ı Saz is based on a source. This page explains in one place where each type of data comes from, under which license it is used, and how to cite the site. Detailed source information is also given on the page of each work, instrument and image.
Score archive
- Scores: SymbTr collection (Music Technology Group, Universitat Pompeu Fabra), CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. This license permits sharing with attribution, for non-commercial purposes and under the same license; that is why the score archive is free and is not placed in a paid section.
- Copyright rule: Only works whose composer and lyricist died more than 70 years ago are included in the archive (Turkish Copyright Act (FSEK) No. 5846, Article 27). If the lyricist's status is unknown, the lyrics (güfte) are not shown; folk songs (türkü) and recent works are not in the archive.
- Work, composer and recording information: MusicBrainz (CC0); listen counts from ListenBrainz (CC0); life dates and external links from Wikidata (CC0).
- Sections: Section markers and lyric lines in SymbTr; for 53 works, expert segmentation by the Music Technology Group.
- Score engraving: Verovio (LGPL); Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek accidentals with glyphs from the SMuFL standard and the Bravura font (SIL OFL).
Makam, usul and glossary
- Makam scales and perde (pitch) names: According to Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek theory. The karar (final tone) perdes were checked by comparing them with the perdes on which the works in the archive end.
- Velveleli usuls (with velvele, ornamented strokes): H. S. Arel's definition and the study by Köprülü and Işıldak (2017, Rast Müzikoloji Dergisi 5/2).
- Makam finder and performance tuning: OTMM Makam Recognition and Tonic datasets (Music Technology Group), CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
