Usul
Mürekkep Nim Sofyan
A small usul of 6 beats; the usul lists of the TDV Encyclopedia of Islam and İsmail Hakkı Özkan count it among the 6-beat usuls together with Yürük Semai. Its name means “compound nim sofyan”; the Miras-ı Saz archive has no piece in this usul.
The definitions were written in our own words, drawing on sources such as the TDV Encyclopedia of Islam, Yılmaz Öztuna's Encyclopedic Dictionary of Turkish Music and Wikipedia; pitch and interval values follow the Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek system.
