Ebced notası

An old notation that shows pitches with the letters of the Arabic alphabet in ebced (abjad) order. Safiyüddîn Urmevî (1216–1294) and Abdülkadir Merâgî (d. 1435) used it, and Abdülbâki Nâsır Dede (1765–1821) presented an almost identical version anew in his work Tahrîriye. Its first octave has 18 pitches from Yegâh to Nevâ.
