Hamparsum notation

Hamparsum notası

The notation system developed in the early 19th century by Hamparsum Limonciyan (1768–1839), written with signs derived from Armenian letters. It is based on seven root signs and shows 14 pitches from Rast to Gerdaniye, not counting the octave; the position of some pitches is flexible in performance. Many Mevlevî âyins and classical works were recorded in this notation.
