History and institutions
Manuscript or printed books in which composed poems (güfte) were collected along with their makam, usul and composer information. In periods when notation was not widespread, they are among the main sources for tracing works.
The definitions were written in our own words, drawing on sources such as the TDV Encyclopedia of Islam, Yılmaz Öztuna's Encyclopedic Dictionary of Turkish Music and Wikipedia; pitch and interval values follow the Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek system.
