Life

He was an 18th-century court violinist and composer, known as Âmâ (Blind) Corci because he had lost his sight. He served in the Enderûn palace school during the reign of Mahmud I; having first played the sinekeman, he learned the Western violin from a Frenchman and is regarded as the first performer to bring that instrument to the Ottoman court. He is believed to have died around 1805, early in the reign of Selim III. He should not be confused with his namesake, the Kemânî Corci who won fame in the Tulip Era.[1, 2, 3]
