In brief
Life
A composer known as Çorlulu Âşık, about whose life almost nothing is known. He is estimated to have died in the mid-19th century. He is said to have been a saz poet raised in the âşık music tradition; some eight of his works have survived. The best known are his Hicazkâr şarkıs beginning with the words “Aldı beni aldı beni iki kaşın arası” and “Ben sana gönül vereli”.
