Life

The composer, also known as Küçük Mehmed Ağa, was the son of the musician Hızır Ağa and was at the palace as a musâhib (companion) of Selim III. He is reported to have composed hundreds of works; more than forty have survived in notation. He worked mostly in the large forms and composed suites in many makams; his Evcârâ suite and his Zâvil and Suzinak semais are among his well-known works. Together with Abdülhalim Ağa he composed the Sultânîırak fasıl.[1, 2]
