Life

He was born in Istanbul; he first lived in Beşiktaş, and was later called Bursalı after Bursa, where he stayed for a long time. Because he was blind he is also known as Âmâ Mehmed Sâdık Efendi. He was at the Enderun palace school and was counted among the companions (musâhip) of Selim III. Although he did not formally join the Mevlevi order, he was close to its circles. His Mevlevi âyin in the Bestenigâr makam is his best-known work; an ilâhi of his in the Sabâ-zemzeme makam is also known.[1, 2]
