Ebezâde Mustafa Efendi was born in Edirne; he was known by this nickname because his mother was a midwife at the Enderun, and his father was a madrasa teacher. He received a good education and took music lessons from childhood on. He is remembered for his powerful voice, which reached the high registers with ease. Sources report that he had about thirty compositions; only a nakış yürük semâisi in makam bayâtî has survived. He also wrote poems under the pen name Musallî.[1, 2]
