Life
Derviş Mehmed was a composer who lived in the 17th century. His works are included in Cantemir's collection; the fact that he is called “Bağdâdî Derviş Mehmed” in a manuscript in Tehran suggests that he may have been of Baghdad origin. Works by him in the makams segâh, uzzâl, ırak, râhatülervâh and rast are recorded. There is no other information about his life.
