Düm-tek pattern
In notation
Single-line notation: right-hand strokes (düm, te) above the line, left-hand strokes (tek, ke) below; durations shown as note values.
48/4: one cycle is 48 units; the width of each box is the length of the stroke.
Large usul 48 beats
A large usul of forty-eight beats; its name means “heavy” in Arabic. In the 48/8, 48/4 and 48/2 (Ağır Sakil) mertebes it is used in large forms such as peşrev, kâr and beste; in slow peşrevs each hâne is usually one cycle of the usul.
