Life

Aleko Bacanos (1888–1950) was a kemençe player of Greek origin, the son of Lavtacı Lambo Efendi and the elder brother of the ud player Yorgo Bacanos. He began music with the violin and later switched to the kemençe. He played in gazinos (music halls), accompanied singers who made records, and gave concerts in Paris, Berlin and Cairo. In 1915 he published a lyrics magazine titled Nevzâd-ı Mûsikî. His best-known work is the Acemaşîrân “Gel ey denizin nazlı kızı”.[1, 2]
