Life
An ud player and composer also known as “Kanbur Eşref Efendi”. His date of birth and his teachers are unknown; he became a hâfız at a young age. He did not work on the professional circuit; he made his living by giving music lessons to women at his home in Cerrahpaşa and from the income of his instrument shop on Divanyolu. He died in 1930. Two saz semais and fourteen şarkıs of his are known; his Suzinak şarkı “Günden güne efzun oluyor” and his Hüseynî şarkı “Dilrübasın sevdiğim” are well known.
