In brief
Life
Born in 1881 in Istanbul, he died in 1934 in Edremit, where he had gone to give a concert. He worked in the customs administration and played the kanun and the piano; he took lessons in harmony and theory for seven years. In 1918 he founded the Istanbul Operetta Company and composed many operettas. 'Yıldızların Altında' and 'Efem' are his best-known şarkıs.
