He was born in 1874 in Manisa; his father was the madrasa professor Mehmed Ârif Efendi. For many years he served as mufti of Manisa and was also remembered as a composer. During the Greek occupation he was removed from office for supporting the War of Independence, and returned to the post of mufti after the occupation. He was awarded the Medal of Independence; he died in 1930 and was buried in the Çatal Cemetery in Manisa.[1, 2]
