Born in 1834 in Eyüp, Istanbul; he was known by this epithet because he played the bolâhenk ney. For many years he worked as a civil servant. He took meşk from Hatice Hanım, Dellâlzâde İsmâil Efendi and Rifat Bey, and learned the ney after joining the Mevlevî order. As a neyzen, hânende and teacher he trained students such as Rauf Yektâ Bey and Hâfız Hayreddin. Besides secular works in the classical style, he composed Mevlevî âyins in Bûselik and Karcığar. He died in 1910.[1, 2]
