Mehmet Emin Yazıcı was born in 1883 in Tophane, Istanbul, and studied at the Vefa İdâdîsi (high school); he worked as a calligrapher at the Post and Telegraph Administration and then at the Cartographic Department. Emin Efendi, as masterly in music as in calligraphy, is regarded as one of the most important neyzens of the last period of Turkish music; he taught the ney and composed works. He suffered a stroke in 1943, died in 1945 and was buried in Eyüp.[1, 2, 3]
